Frequently Asked Questions for Pedigree Breeders

Your first point of contact for questions about pedigree breeding should always be your breed rep. They can often give you more detailed advice on pig keeping than our office staff and may be available in the evenings as well. For a complete list of Breed Reps - Click Here

Ø Identification - The BPA recommends tattooing or notching for pedigree identification
Ø Birth Notification - All pedigree litters and all pigs in the litter should be notified
Ø Herdbook Registration - Pigs for Herdbook registration must meet the Breed Standard
Ø Breed Standards - Pigs for Herdbook registration must meet the Breed Standard
