The Acaster herd was formed in
1946 when a change of farms brought about a new herd. Previously
known as the Fulford herd established in the early 1920s.theAcaster
herd continues a family tradition of showing, breeding and retailing
of pedigree pigs. Originally founded on the middle white and then
the Welsh, today’s herd consists of traditional and modern breeds to
suit the demands of the future.
The family ,Richard ,Trisha
,Charlotte , Georgina, Matthew, Camilla, and Alyssia all believe in
the necessity of keeping the traditional breeds going forward by the
way of breeding, showing and informing the general public how good
they taste.
We produce pigs for breeding and for eating and
supply retailers who sell into many specialist areas of the food
industry. Local pubs and hotels also sell our home produced pork on
their menus.
The Acaster herd currently
consists of:
Traditional breeds
Middle White Large Black
Saddleback Berkshire Tamworth
Modern breeds
Welsh Hampshire Duroc
